Welcome to the official eLAIX website
eLAIX ['i.læks] is an OpenOffice.org-plugin that allows you to convert a text document (also Word documents) into an ILIAS learning module. After the conversion an exported eLAIX package can be imported into ILIAS as a ready to go learning module. After the import, a learning module created by eLAIX is fully editable within ILIAS. Since eLAIX has been completely written in OpenOffice Basic, it is available for all platforms that are supported by OpenOffice.org, mainly Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
eLAIX is free software, released under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL).
With eLAIX you can:
- create ILIAS learning units without the need of beeing online,
- structure, format and arrange content with the help of about 40 new toolbar-buttons,
- transfer a document to an ILIAS importable learning package with a mouseclick.
- transfer existing documents like MS Word documents to the ILIAS platform,
- use a single document for multiple purposes (pdf, DocBook, doc, html, xml, etc.)
The eLAIX package comes with an easy installer for all platforms and a detailed (german and english) documentation, designed as an eLAIX sample learning-unit. I hope there will be people, who want to translate the documentation into other languages.
